Duke Media Talks Replacements for John Calipari

While Kentucky sits at an underwhelming 4-8, the Duke Blue Devils aren’t doing too hot themselves. Currently with a 5-3 record with the 69th ranked strength of schedule, plenty of excuses have spewed from Mike Krzyzewski’s mouth (yes, I had to use Google to spell check).

Yet, rather than talking about their own issues, the Duke media wants to talk about the “trouble in paradise” that has brewed in Lexington this season.

A Duke blog writer wrote an article in reference to another article listing potential replacements for John Calipari. Which I have listed below as they were ranked.

10. Richard Pitino (Minnesota)
9. Greg Gard (Wisconsin)
8. Chris Mack (Louisville)
7. Chris Holtmann (Ohio State)
6. Nate Oats (Alabama)
5. Mike Young (Virginia Tech)
4. Brad Brownell (Clemson)
3. Shaka Smart (Texas)
2. Chris Beard (Texas Tech)
1. Scott Drew (Baylor)

He also went on to add two other names of note, Illinois’ Brad Underwood and former Duke assistant Jeff Capel.

College fans are fickle and none more so than Kentucky fans. Big Blue Nation likes to brag that it is the best fan base in college basketball. They’re certainly the most intense but the best fans wouldn’t be looking to get rid of a Hall of Fame coach for one down year.

Kentucky fans aren’t fickle, we just don’t accept complacency or mediocre results. As for the best fans, what other fan bases can say they have sold out College Gameday at two different arenas?

There is no hiding that the Big Blue Nation is unhappy this year, but 95% of the fanbase has the logical sense to know that John Calipari has made Kentucky the most successful program of the last decade, and one down season does not deserve his firing. However, it is okay to be critical of someone giving “out-of-touch” comments when he is making $9.27 million per year to win basketball games.

But Dukies, please learn to keep losing to give us some enjoyment out of this season. We are Kentucky and we are crazy about our basketball team but at least we don’t wear this…

nor do our players do this…
