Kentucky defensive lineman Tavion Gadson is expected to bring plenty of heat to the Wildcats’ defense this fall. What some may not know is that he also knows how to turn up the heat in the kitchen.

Speaking with the media following Kentucky’s practice on Wednesday, Sept. 2, Gadson shared how cooking has become more than just a hobby for him.

He credited his mother with introducing him to the kitchen, and although cooking didn’t initially interest him, his entrepreneurial mindset eventually encouraged him to strengthen his skills.

“I’ve always been a making-money type of dude,” Gadson said. “I like to hustle.”

While in high school, the Savannah, Georgia native began preparing his own meals and baking desserts, including cookies, cupcakes and cakes. Before long, he was selling those sweets to his classmates.

Gadson said one of his favorite things to make is Alfredo and recalled making boudin balls with his fiancée to sell to the team. When it comes to seasoning, he prefers cayenne pepper, sometimes accompanied by a pepper or two.

“I like pretty much everything spicy, it’s a must,” Gadson says.

He also draws inspiration from his mother and recipes his fiancée discovers on TikTok.

His family influence extends beyond the kitchen however, because this season, Gadson will play alongside his younger brother, outside linebacker Lorenzo Cowan.

Whether he is disrupting an opposing offense, playing alongside his brother, or preparing an order for a teammate, his pursuits remain rooted in family and ambition.

The 6-foot-5, 303-lb lineman enters the 2026 season after recording 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks last year. He was also included on the Senior Bowl Top 300 list and earned multiple preseason honors, according to UK Athletics.

Football may be his primary focus, but the kitchen gives Gadson another outlet for his creativity and entrepreneurial drive.

On Saturday, Kentucky beat then-ranked no. 9 Texas A&M by a score of 31-21 on the road in College Station. This unexpected win earned the Wildcats the FWAA Pop-Tarts Bowl Crazy Good Team of the Week. FWAA

This is only the fourth time Kentucky Football has won the award, with the last time being in 2023 after a win against Louisville. Last week, the award was given to Oklahoma State after defeating No. 6 Oregon.

Coach Will Stein prepared the team to expect to upset the Aggies, so this award comes as no surprise. Stein’s message to the team all week before the game was to stay in the “eye of the storm” and not let the noise get to them.

There was certainly some noise around this game, but some of the higher-ups didn’t believe in the Wildcats as much as the Big Blue Nation did, with the moneyline for Kentucky winning outright coming in at +590 on FanDuel and the entire College Gameday crew rocking with the Aggies. Yes, even Morgan Freeman.

In the post game press conference, Stein had gave praise for Kentucky’s performance on the field. He was quoted that he wasn’t just “proud of how they played, but how they prepared” after an “unbelievable week of practice.”

Kentucky returns to Kroger Field on Saturday, Sept. 26 against South Alabama, with kickoff set for 12:45 p.m. ET. Can the Wildcats win their second game in a row?

In week three, Kentucky secured a legendary upset against No. 9 Texas A&M, and senior outside linebacker/edge Sam Greene put on a performance, making him the SEC’s defensive player of the week.

Greene is Kentucky’s first league-weekly award winner of this season, making numerous game-changing plays in the Wildcats’ upset. The linebacker totaled an interception, six tackles, one-half tackle for loss and a fourth-down stop for a turnover on downs.

Yet, these stats were just scratching the surface for Greene.

One huge turning point was his interception in the Aggies’ second possession of the game, returning it for seven yards. Additionally, his impact mattered for Kentucky, as his biggest plays came when the No. 9 ranked team was threatening to score.

Later, in the third quarter on a third-and-two play, he held the runner to no gain, forcing a punt. Kentucky turned that stop into a touchdown, changing the ultimate tone of the game.

This performance means even more, considering that Greene is making a major comeback, spending the offseason rehabbing from a torn ACL.

After a season-ending injury in his first season with the Wildcats, he returned and quickly became one of the SEC’s top defensive players, reminding Kentucky what it had been missing.

So far throughout his 2026 season, Greene has secured 10 total tackles, one interception and a major role in Kentucky’s first SEC win of the 2026 season.

What will Kentucky see Greene do next this Saturday, Sept. 26, against South Alabama? The Big Blue Nation will certainly be sitting in their seats eagerly at 12:45 p.m. ET ready for kickoff and ready to see another monster performance from one of the best in the conference.

Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey has been named as a Davey O’Brien Great 8 Quarterback of the Week after leading his team to a shocking upset over the then No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies in College Station.

The Wildcats dominated the game in such a way that when the two head coaches shook hands at the end of the game, head coach Mike Elko said bluntly, “You guys kicked our ass.”

Of course, the entire team played incredibly well, but one player in particular stood out: Minchey. He went 14/18 on passing on the day, throwing for 252 yards along with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His performance helped lead his team to a top-ten upset win at one of the most difficult places to play in all of America.

Thanks to Minchey’s impressive performance on Saturday, he received an award that only seven other starting quarterbacks around the nation received. Other QBs named alongside Minchey this week include Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss), Aidan Chiles (Northwestern), Ethan Grunkemeyer (Virginia Tech), Michael Hawkins Jr. (West Virginia), Lincoln Kienholz (Louisville), John Alan Richter (Toledo) and Keelon Russell (Alabama). Since Minchey was named to this prestigious list, it puts him in contention for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week award and also places him on the Davey O’Brien Midseason Watch List, which is given annually to the nation’s best college quarterback.

A very special list that Minchey has the opportunity to be a part of if he continues to play at a high level.

Through three games, Minchey has thrown for 699 yards and seven touchdowns, with just one interception, all while completing 65% of his passes. If he can continue to play at this level, his name will remain in the conversation for one of the best in the SEC.

Minchey and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, hosting South Alabama in their return to Kroger Field. 12:45 p.m. EST, with the game broadcast on the SEC Network.
