Good afternoon, Kentucky fans. The Cats have a very important game tonight against South Carolina, but I have to take a minute to make fun of Louisville, which is something I really like doing.
When Scott Satterfield was hired at Louisville, he was supposed to be THE GUY. The coach that was going to bring them back from the lowest of low’s they experience with Bobby Petrino.
Well, it looks like Satterfield interviewed for the South Carolina job, which is something he said he wasn’t interested in.
Yeah, as you can see, he Tweeted this out just over a week ago.
“While I am flattered my name was associated with another job I have not pursued or sought any offers. I am the head coach at the University of Louisville.”
Well, either Satterfield lied or changed his mind quickly, because a report came from the Courier-Journal this morning that said Satterfield did indeed interview for the South Carolina job.
According to the article, “Multiple reports from South Carolina, including one from the local 247Sports site, have reported that Satterfield interviewed for the job with South Carolina athletic director, Ray Tanner, on Friday.”
When asked about the report, AD Vince Tyra said, according to the article, “Nothing new to report on my end” and said that the reports at the time were “not true” and that Satterfield “wanted to stay at Louisville.”
You’re kidding right? Who’s the boss here? Tyra or Satterfield?
And then another report came from the Courier-Journal saying that Satterfield was staying at Louisville and was not interested in the South Carolina job. More like, “The interview with South Carolina didn’t go well, so I am pulling a Michael Scott and saying I’m no longer interested when they told me they were going in another direction.”
At least he tried.
Satterfield then said that it wasn’t an interview, more of a “conversation” because his parents live close and he felt obligated to listen.
So let’s get this straight:
- Satterfield said he wasn’t interested in South Carolina and was staying at Louisville
- Less than two weeks later, he interviews for the job
- Vince Tyra acted like it was no big deal
- Satterfield then says that he is staying at Louisville and isn’t interested
- Then says it was a “conversation” and he felt obligated to “listen” because his parents live close
That’s hilarious. Not only did Satterfield go back on his word, but it doesn’t seem to be raising any red flags with Louisville.
This will not be the last time this happens.
So, so glad I’m a Kentucky fan.
